Polls open Late ?

without comments

Jerry Holland says as of 5:30  no word if polls will stay open late… there was a false network report saying they would be extended… NOT happening at this point

Democrats Preparing For Party

with one comment

We’re at the Jacksonville Landing, where the Duval Democratic Party is preparing to watch the vote results come in. One party will be at the club “Mavericks” and a second, for the Young Democrats of Duval, is set for “Twisted Martini” downstairs. They’re expecting big crowds at both.

without comments

I’m at the Singleton Center in Springfield today, voters say inside things are going smoothly. One woman told me she is “impressed” with this election.

without comments

While the supervisor of elections says  no  problems with voting.. It seems about 5 poll watcher had to be rejected from  various precincts .. They are only allowed to observe and not talk with voters.

Elections Office Running Smooth

without comments

So far  Jerry Holland tells us the day has been going well.   The problems have been few.   Some scanners have failed but they have been replaced.     He is still hoping for a 80% possibly 90% voter turnout.     The next thing to watch for will be what happens at 7 PM…  that is when the polls close.    The last person in line will be allowed to vote.. those that arrive at 7:01 or later  will be out of luck.    They will hand out numbers to those in line   and you must have a number to vote.    Holland says they will not release results until after 8 PM .. But if there are still people in line in Duval County  they will wait until they vote…   We are at the election center where they are still opening absentee ballots to be processed..  early votes and absentee votes will be the first to be  counted when polls close..  They have been fed into machines  just not counted.

Riverview community center

without comments

I’m at the Riverview Community Center in Northwest Jacksonville. The lines right now are very short. This morning they were a lot longer.

NW Jax: Still going well

without comments

I probably sound like a broken record, but I think it’s worth it to repeat that things are still going well here at the Riverview Community Center. In speaking with poll workers…they predict lines may once again form at around 4:30, 5pm. Remember…the only time there was a line, was right before polls opened.

As the day has progressed, I would say in the last hour, things have really slowed down. Up until now, the parking lot has been full…now there are plenty of spaces.

We are at the Our Lady of the Sea Catholic Church in St. Johns County and there is no line right now. Voters seem to moving fairly quick in and out of this precinct and it’s expected to remain that way until of course 5pm.

So far there has only been one report of a machine issue in the county but after a technician was sent to the location the realized it wasn’t the machine itself but rather it being assembled improperly.
