It’s the phones! In 2000, we knew there were massive problems with the voting based on the onslaught of calls to the WJXT newsroom that started within an hour of the polls opening. In 2004, not nearly as many complaints. So far this year– a trickle of calls. Some machines had to be replaced. One precinct worker arrived to open up and forgot his key, delaying people already there. A water main break caused traffic problems around another polling place. Many emails from voters surprised they were able to vote so quickly. That’s what 46% early voting will do.
