early voting extended
Jerry holland says early voting hours are being exstended. Starting right now. From. 7am to 7pm until friday. *nd noon to 6pm sat and sun.
The gov issued an emergency order extending the hours across the state.
Lines are still heavy. 13 thousand voted yesterday in jax
Early Voting Lines and Absentee Ballots
Still long lines this morning downtown as people take advantage of early voting. Supervisor Jerry Holland says best time is maybe late afternoon.
Also did some checking on Absentee ballots. 32 thouand have been returned.. and there are 1587 that are in question…. Either signatures do not match or not signed at all. They will have to be checked by the elections canvassing board starting on Wednesday.
Also 1600 new voters who registered around the last day.. have had problems with applications.. they will not be allowed to vote… Before you vote it might be smart to check your regestration status on line with the supervsiors office… you can link to that from NEWS4JAX.COM

While checking statistic for early voting. New4jax learned the names of all voters whop vote early are posted on the secretary of state’s website. Not only names but it list where they voted and their party affilation. Read the full story.

The day began with long lines downtown. So far no problems. I talked wqith a 92 year old voter wqho came out to vote early just so there would be no problems and hher vote would count
Early Voting Problems Better
Officials believe trhey fixed problems with early voting ballots. Today elected officials met with supervisor Jerry Holland. They believe the situation is under control. Few problems reportrf today
problems continue
Voting machines went down at 2 sites already Tuesday. Highlands and Pablo Creek. The Duval County canvassing board is holding an emergency meeting this afternoon at one polling place to test new machines. Still long lines downtown.

Jerry Holland says 7 voting machines went down and had to be replaced. 10 are being ordered and shipped tomorrow as back up. First day ends in about 40 min. Lines are picking up again.
More problems
Jerry holland says new optical scan readers are the problem. They are working to correct. More people are saying they can’t vote today. Holland says they can and ballots will be scaned later. Some say that’s a problem because if a ballot was marked wrong the voter would not know. State rep audrey gibson sa)s her ballott was opne that did nopt work. Had to wait to vote.

Some reports of machine problems at Gateway office. Supervisor jerry holland says they swapped out the optical reader. Same problem at Regency. I’m told its fixed.
