Getting ready to finish count
Duval elections supervisor Jerry Holland feels it was a very successful election.. he did not get the turn out he predicted of 80 % but it will be in the 70’s he does think early voting helped and believes it could be expanded in the future…
Last Voter Northside
With Polls closed some people barely made it to cast their vote. One woman told me a train stop her … She just made it … Yet one young man Jamarr Clark didn’t.. He was sad he didn’t get to vote but says he understands he just didn’t make it in time…
Meanwhile they are awaiting results at Supervisor of Elections office … they should release early voting and absentee results at 8 Pm
Polls open Late ?
Jerry Holland says as of 5:30 no word if polls will stay open late… there was a false network report saying they would be extended… NOT happening at this point
Poll Watchers Rejected
While the supervisor of elections says no problems with voting.. It seems about 5 poll watcher had to be rejected from various precincts .. They are only allowed to observe and not talk with voters.
Elections Office Running Smooth
So far Jerry Holland tells us the day has been going well. The problems have been few. Some scanners have failed but they have been replaced. He is still hoping for a 80% possibly 90% voter turnout. The next thing to watch for will be what happens at 7 PM… that is when the polls close. The last person in line will be allowed to vote.. those that arrive at 7:01 or later will be out of luck. They will hand out numbers to those in line and you must have a number to vote. Holland says they will not release results until after 8 PM .. But if there are still people in line in Duval County they will wait until they vote… We are at the election center where they are still opening absentee ballots to be processed.. early votes and absentee votes will be the first to be counted when polls close.. They have been fed into machines just not counted.
Voting No Problem
I just voted at a southside poll. No line no problems. It was just before 8am. Woprkes sais line at first but its been steady. I have voted here for years and have stood in line for much smaller elections. It took. At the most. 5 min.

Early voting is over but absentee voting continues. ;Jerry holland just told us about 50 percent of people in jax have vote. 1155 absentees have been rejected. Holland says lines will be long tomorrow mainly am and pm. But during midday it should not be too bad
