Election Day is Over

with 8 comments

Senator Barak Obama is now the President-Elect.
I am still in Avondale, the streets are quiet, but I have heard a few people cheering and yelling in celebration.

Non-Partisan Watch Party

without comments

Republican and Democratic voters gathered at the Brick Restaurant in Avondale to watch channel 4 and some of the “numbers” come in.
Some McCain supporters left a little disapointed with the numbers so far. Obama supporters are hopeful.

Ten minutes left until the polls close. Have you voted yet? There’s still time!

Going Smoothly

without comments

I’m at the Singleton Center in Springfield today, voters say inside things are going smoothly. One woman told me she is “impressed” with this election.

Lines, What Lines?

with one comment

Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland was right. He said between 9am – 4pm would be the best time to vote. I just drove by the public library on Deerwood Park and there wasn’t a long line. If that’s your polling place, now would be a great time to head out.

Third Time’s a Charm

without comments

Since my polling place had such a long wait, I decided to try another location. I went downtown to the Supervisor of Elections Office on East Monroe. The line there was just as long. SO, I hopped on I-95 and headed north to the Gateway Shopping Center on Norwood. There was no line, the workers were friendly and helpful and the best part – I got in and out in 20 minutes!!

Early Voting

without comments

I just went to vote – Oh My Gosh. The line was out the door, more than 100 people in the line, the wait is over an hour.
I went to my polling place, which also happens to be an early voting site. It’s the public library on Deerwood Park.
All I can say is, if it’s this bad now, it’s going to be worse on election day. Don’t let the long lines discourage you from casting your ballot. Go early and prepare to wait in line!

No Vote For Him

Homeowner makes his own political sign.

Homeowner makes his own political sign.

There’s a house on Nira Street, not far from our TV station, with a homemade election lawn sign. It says “They both Suck”

Timothy Connors made the sign and says he doesn’t support either candidate so he’s not going to vote at all.

What do you think?

Almost time to cast your ballot!

without comments

For the first time in my life I’m going to early vote. I usually go to the polls on election day, but we’re hearing huge voter turnout will make it CRAZY!! If they get the 80% they’re expecting, you could be in line for hours!
