I am here at the Republican watch party. It’s starts at 7:30 so right now the media are the only ones here. I stopped by local Republican headquarters. Volunteers and staff are still working hard to get out the vote. They say they will be fighting for every vote until the polls close.
In Bradford County Florida, the polls may be running smoothly, but when you attempt to purchase a bottle of wine or a six pack of beer, you will be refused.
The management of Winn-Dixie, in response to a request from Republican run City Officials, have asked local businesses not to sell Alcohol on Election Day.
Being a responsible adult, I attempted this afternoon to purchase alcohol at the Starke Winn Dixie store.
I was told by the person behind the counter that they can not sell alcohol today, as it was a National Ban on Election Day.
I asked as if she was joking and showed my proper ID (I am close to 45, so age should not be an issue) and she said that she could not sell it.
I stated that there were no signs at the display. She agreed but all the same, said they could not. They also told 2 other people that they could not purchase it.
The funny part of this so called “National Ban” is that the ABC down the street sold it with out any question or delay. So did Wal-Mart a few miles away.
Maybe there really was a ban, or maybe it was my Vote “Obama” button that I was wearing.
Well, Republicans, enjoy your last few weeks in power. Your righteous, elitist Republican values will be replaced with not Democrat or Liberal values, but with AMERICAN values.
Change is coming, and once again America will be a country worth fighting for.
Expecting the highest voter turnout in decades -- perhaps 80 percent -- there will likely be confusion or frustration for first-time voters and those who haven’t voted recently, lines at the polls on Election Day and a late night as the returns come in. Channel 4’s reporters, news staffers and contributors are spanned out across northeast Florida, posting early and often about developments in the races, at the polls and behind the scenes.
