Can early voting be too successful?
In the first two days of early voting, the Secretary of State’s office reports that 150,766 people cast ballots in Florida.
Duval County’s election office reports that in the first two days of early voting, 11,970 voters have cast their ballots and, as of 9 a.m. Tuesday, 25,012 voters have voted by mail. That’s nearly 37,000 people having voting already — almost 7% of the registered voters in Jacksonville..
In other parts of Florida, elections supervisors are adding new equipment, updating Web sites with wait times and handing out fans and water to people standing in long early voting lines.
Florida Congressman Kendrick Meek protested what he called “excessive waits” at polling stations and said he was considering filing a lawsuit to have additional voting machines installed.
Why would the possible First Lady promote early voting? Always wonder about those things because once sealed, there are no “do overs” should someone say or do something out of bounds.
