WJXT staffers’ notes on everything political in Election 2008

Early Voting Problems

leave a comment »

Day one of early voting and there were major problems. 7 of the 15 early voting sites had technical difficulties. Which meant a late night for poll works and lawmakers who wanted to make sure that everyone’s vote counted. Representative Audrey Gibson, Mia Jones, and others were on hand this morning for a press conference assuring their constituents that they will be there to monitor ballots that did not run through the machines and that you should trust election officials to do their job properly.

This morning at the election headquarters on Monroe street, many people showed up right at 7am thinking the sites would be open. Don’t forget early voting starts at 10am-6pm. Every one we talked with wants to see their ballots run through the machine. This is a very important election and people do want to be disenfranchised.

The canvassing board is holding an emergency meeting at 1pm today at Gateway to address yesterday’s problems.
