Officials expect the highest voter turnout in decades — perhaps over 80 percent — for the election pitting McCain/Palin against Obama/Biden, plus numerous local races that will determine who will be in charge for the next four years.

That means potential lines at the polls, confusion or worse for those who haven’t voted recently and, possibly a late night as the returns come in.

Channel 4’s reporters, news staffers and contributors will span out across northeast Florida from now though Election Day, posting early and often developments at the polls and behind the scenes.

Depend on the local station and News4Jax.com for the latest and most important developments of this year’s historic election.
